Manuela Slamanig MRCVS Mag.med.vet

Manuela comes from a lifelong background of horses. She grew up in the south of Austria and then went on study veterinary medicine in Vienna. Manuela graduated in 2014 from the Veterinary University of Vienna writing a diploma thesis about genetic research in racehorses.

She then went on and worked in different private equine practices in France, Italy, Germany and the UK gaining invaluable experience dealing with a wide range of horses. From early on she had a strong interest in sport medicine and rehabilitation that led her to do an internship.
When looking for an additional way to treat high performance athletes also dealing with chronic health issues Manuela found her way into Acupuncture. Having suffered a very bad back injury at work that left her with chronic back pain for years she tried several therapies and finally found release in having acupuncture done on her own. After only six treatments she was pain free. Following this experience and being completely fascinated she started her holistic journey.
Since then she has trained in Traditional Chinese and Western acupuncture as well as Electroacupuncture and Fascial Manipulation Therapies.
Manuela still works as a veterinarian for the Cambridge Equine hospital at the University of Cambridge and has also started her own business Motion Veterinary where she provides advanced therapies to her own clients.
Outside of working life Manuela is a very keen amateur flat jockey. She has ridden racehorses since the age of 12 and competed across the globe.

Some of her notable successes are: European Championship for Lady riders in 2011 and Fegentri World Championship in 2013. Having won several races all over the world in Austria, Germany, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Morocco, Oman, USA as well as on the Caribbean island Martinique, Manuela still competes regularly alongside running her business and fulfilling her responsibilities at Cambridge Veterinary Hospital.
After competing for several years, Manuela has now found home in the beautiful horse town of Newmarket alongside her partner Alex, who runs a successful farriery business, and her parson russel terrier, Bella. Whenever time allow, Manuela can be found riding out horses for local racehorse trainer Roger Varian.
